Terms of Service

A few things we ask of each other.

These terms govern your use of Unspoken. They are written plainly because we believe you should understand what you are agreeing to.

Last updated: April 29, 2026

What Unspoken is

Unspoken is a private writing application. It provides a space to write, a mood tagging system, weekly AI-generated reflections drawn from your own words, and (in the future) access to trained, anonymous listeners.

Unspoken is not a mental health service, a crisis intervention tool, a therapy platform, or a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, or monitor mental health conditions. If you are in crisis, please visit our Care page for crisis resources.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Unspoken. If you are between 13 and 15 years old, you need the consent of a parent or legal guardian to create an account, in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation. Users aged 16 and above may create an account independently.

By creating an account, you confirm that you meet the age requirements above.

Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us at hello@unspoken.app.

You may delete your account at any time from the Settings page. Deletion is permanent and irreversible.

Your content

You own what you write. Everything you write in Unspoken belongs to you. We do not claim ownership of your entries, your reflections, or any content you create.

By using Unspoken, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and transmit your entries solely for the purpose of providing the service — including generating your weekly reflections via the Anthropic API. This license exists only while your account is active and is revoked when you delete your account.

We will never publish, share, or use your writing for any purpose other than providing the service to you, unless you explicitly choose to share it.

Acceptable use

Unspoken is a private writing space. You may write whatever you need to write. We do not monitor, read, or moderate your entries.

However, you agree not to use Unspoken to: distribute malware or harmful code; attempt to access other users' accounts or data; use the service to harass, threaten, or harm others; or use automated tools to scrape or overload the service.

If we become aware of a serious violation, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate the account in question.

AI-generated reflections

Weekly reflections are generated by artificial intelligence (the Anthropic Claude API) based on your entries. These reflections are literary observations, not professional advice. They may contain inaccuracies, misreadings, or interpretations you disagree with. They are not therapy, not diagnosis, and not medical guidance.

You should never rely on an AI-generated reflection as a substitute for professional mental health support.

The Listening Room (future feature)

The Listening Room will connect you with trained, anonymous human listeners. Listeners are vetted and trained, but they are not licensed therapists (unless specifically identified as such). Sessions are not therapy. Listeners provide empathetic, non-judgmental conversation — not clinical care.

This feature is not yet available. These terms will be updated with additional details when the Listening Room launches.

Availability and changes

We strive to keep Unspoken available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. If we make changes that materially affect your use of the service, we will notify you in advance where possible.

Limitation of liability

Unspoken is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

We are not responsible for the content of AI-generated reflections, the advice or statements of listeners in the Listening Room (when available), or any decisions you make based on your use of Unspoken.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Latvia, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Riga, Latvia.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via email or a notice within the app before the changes take effect. Continued use of Unspoken after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
